ABIP Inspections in Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska
In 2010, I was approached by the Missouri Broadcasters Association to assist in the Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program, also known as "Mock Inspections". The program allows radio and television stations to submit to an inspection of their paperwork, policies and equipment to check their compliance with FCC rules and regulations.
I trained for the project with Ron Ramage, a (now retired) Field Agent of the Federal Communications Commission at their (former) Field Office in Kansas City. Ron literally 'wrote the book' on FCC inspections, having authored the "self-inspection checklists" used by many stations to prepare for such inspections.
About the same time, I was contacted by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters to perform the same function for them. Nebraska approached me in 2017, and Kansas in 2019.
It is a great privilege to perform these inspections to assist broadcasters in this way. The technology of broadcasting is changing daily, and regulations as well.
One of the great benefits of doing this work is getting to meet so many fine broadcasters across four states!
